چکیده
The cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) crop is relevant for human livelihoods, particularly in poorer regions. It consumed fresh or as industrialized flour, and the roots aerial parts are also used to feed livestock. Pests may limit production, which endanger food security due socioeconomic importance of crop. Reports occurrence three insect guilds, lace bugs, shoot flies, whiteflies have been recorded Paraná State, Brazil, but distinct species their distribution yet be determined. This lack information limits development strategies mitigate pest damage. Surveys were conducted 39 counties (four farms per county) distributed throughout state that encompass various collected material was properly packed sent laboratory identification, following identified: bugs Vatiga illudens Drake, 1922 manihotae (both Hemiptera: Tingidae); Bemisia tuberculata (Bondar, 1923) Aleurothrixus aepim (Goeldi, 1886) Aleyrodidae), fly Neosilba perezi Romero & Ruppel, 1973 (Diptera: Lonchaeidae) State. Lace not found samples eastern southern portions state. V. more widespread than manihotae. whitefly A. observed (eastern, southern, central regions), whereas B. all regions sampled Suggestions future investigations management proposed.

Occurrence of lace bug Vatiga illudens and Vatiga manihotae (Hemiptera: Tingidae) in Mato Grosso do Sul, midwestern Brazil.
Nymphs and adults of the lace bug (Hemiptera: Tingidae) have been found in cassava crops (Manihot esculenta) in Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil. The insects were collected in the field and taken to the laboratory where they were identified based on some morphological traits of the species Vatiga manihotae (Drake) and V. illudens (Drake), which are first reported in the aforementioned state.

Cassava (Manihot esculenta subsp. esculenta) is a staple crop with great economic importance worldwide, yet its evolutionary and geographical origins have remained unresolved and controversial. We have investigated this crop's domestication in a phylogeographic study based on the single-copy nuclear gene glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (G3pdh). The G3pdh locus provides high levels of n...
متن کاملAnatomical alterations due to polyploidy in cassava, Manihot esculenta Crantz.
Information on anatomical structure is needed by breeders working on improvement for drought tolerance. For studying the effect of polyploidy on cassava anatomy and its significance to tolerance to drought, we induced a polyploidy type of a selected clone (UnB 530) by applying an aqueous solution of 0.2% colchicine on lateral buds for a period of 12 h. The stem identified as tetraploid was prop...

Based on nine microsatellite loci, the aim of this study was to appraise the genetic diversity of 42 cassava (Manihot esculenta) landraces from selected regions in Brazil, and examine how this variety is distributed according to origin in several municipalities in the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Amazonas and Mato Grosso. High diversity values were found among the five...

Manihot esculenta roots rich in β-carotene are an important staple food for populations with risk of vitamin A deficiency. Cassava genotypes with high provitamin A activity have been identified as a strategy to reduce the prevalence of deficiency of this vitamin, In this study, the metabolomics characterization focusing on the carotenoid composition of ten cassava genotypes cultivated in southe...
